To:
Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From:
Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

We had a fabulous outing yesterday, with perfect weather for a visit to the Santa Monica Pier with lunch at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company.  A great group of 15 residents thoroughly enjoyed beautiful oceanside views, a tasty lunch, and great fellowship on this memorable full day outing. I’m so glad that the rain took the day off and provided beautiful blue skies with puffy white clouds… we are certainly blessed to live in such a fantastic city with mountains, beaches, and so much to see just a short drive away!  Keep an eye out for notice of our next “adventure.”

On a very different note, it is with mixed emotions that I announce the departure of Gabby Guzman, our Director of Dining Services.  Gabby’s last day with us will be next Friday, March 1st.  Our head chef Carlos Monterroza will be available for any questions, and we will move forward with Morrison in filling the Director of Dining Services position as quickly as possible.  I’d like to thank Gabby for her vision and dedication to Solheim, and I know that we all collectively wish her well as she embarks upon her next professional chapter.

I’d also like to remind you that as the weather changes from rain to crisp days which will soon be getting warmer and warmer, you should not hesitate to let us know if you have any issues with your heating or air conditioning.  You may contact the front desk or your nursing station if you need help with any adjustments.  I’d also like to remind you that hydration is always an important consideration.  Please remember to drink lots of fluids (and yes, soup, hot chocolate and tea count).  Your health and wellbeing is of the utmost importance to us here at Solheim, and we like to do everything we can to make sure everyone in our community stays healthy and comfortable the whole year round.

Our elevator project continues on pace, and so far it is progressing nicely.  I’d like to thank you all again for your patience as we work to improve our campus; should you have any questions or concerns about this project, please reach out to our General Counsel and Director of Operations, Adam Yarian.

As a reminder, your Solheim Feeling” Employee Recognition Nominations help us to select our Employees of the Quarters and choose our Employee of the Year… so please be sure to share your recognition of our wonderful employees by filling out a nomination card that can be found at our Front Desk, or any Nursing Station.  You may also visit www.solheimsenior.org/employee-recognition .  We love to share your kind words with our fantastic staff!

Masks are strongly recommended for visitors.   Staff who are not vaccinated with both the influenza and COVID -19 vaccines for 2023- 2024 winter season are still required to wear a mask in the Health Center/ Skilled Nursing campus.  Masks will be provided at the Front Desk.  All Solheim visitors and staff members must continue to conduct self-screening for symptoms of possible COVID-19 infection prior to entry.

If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323 257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
