To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO
COVID-19 resident and staff tests are complete, and we have received most of the results back. We will be completing some re-testing, as needed.
We have confirmation of one additional direct care skilled nursing staff member testing positive. This employee last worked on May 1st. This employee will not return to work until cleared to do so.
Our process is to contact the family members of those residents with any positive test results immediately, and prior to any email notifications being sent out. We understand your desire to hear the results of your loved one’s test. Be assured we will contact our family members of any positive test results immediately upon receipt of this information. As we move forward, we are considering a process of regular testing, and look to the Department of Health and CDC for guidance as well.
Our first line of defense against this COVID-19 Virus is excellent infection control practices. We have staff disinfecting and cleaning commonly used areas, equipment and items regularly, daily screening of staff and visitors for symptoms associated to COVID-19, we encourage staff to take frequent breaks to wash hands, provide masks for all staff and residents who venture outside of their rooms, continue to provide Personal Protective Equipment and make it a daily practice to educate on these infection control practices. We also thank those generous donors who have donated towards our staff meals, as this also helps reduce potential infection of staff members.
Public health officials are notified daily as required and we continue to follow procedures recommended by the Department of Health and CDC. We shared this information below early on, but it's always a good reminder as we continue to make our way through this unprecedented time in history.
Practice preventative measures by doing the following:
Avoid close contact with people who are sick
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
Cover your cough or sneeze with tissue, throw tissue in trash
Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (say the ABCs)
Follow the 'Safer at Home' guidelines
