From: Sam Oden, CEO
Although we hoped not to have to report our first resident case of COVID-19, we must do so with this current notification. We have just received confirmation of a resident in our Halvorson Memory Care Neighborhood testing positive. This resident is quarantined, and we are currently following Department of Health Guidelines for the safety of our residents and staff.
Testing is complete for all staff and residents and we are receiving results throughout the day, every day. No staff who have tested positive will return to work until cleared to do so.
We understand this is difficult news to hear, and we continue to be vigilant of our infection control practices, sharing as much information and education as we can with staff, residents, and families. Public health officials are notified daily as required and we continue to follow procedures recommended by the Department of Health and CDC. Based on the newest guidelines, we are also requiring all residents to wear a surgical mask or cloth mask when they are outside of their room.
We shared this information below early on, but it's always a good reminder as we continue to make our way through this unprecedented time in history.
Practice preventative measures by doing the following:
Avoid close contact with people who are sick
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
Cover your cough or sneeze with tissue, throw tissue in trash
Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (say the ABCs)
Follow the 'Safer at Home' guidelines
