Bob Menzies grew up in Long Beach, California and attended a Lutheran school through grade 8. He met his future wife Donna in high school. They were married soon after he started graduate school at Caltech in Pasadena. They migrated to Hill Ave. Grace Lutheran in the mid-1970’s, joined soon thereafter, and have been members since then. They have two adult sons, one a physician in Ft. Worth, Texas and the other a lawyer in San Francisco. Bob has served at Hill Ave. Grace in many different capacities over the years, including being president of the congregation more than once and being on a Call committee three times. He has a music background (piano, organ, choral) and began serving as assistant organist in 1980. Bob has been employed at the Caltech Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in various capacities (physics, atmospheric science, project and line management) since finishing his grad work at Caltech and retired at end of March, 2018. In the photo Bob is standing in front of a large print of the surface of Mars, taken from the cameras of one of the rovers. Bob will be serving a three-year term.
